1. Who we are

For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), we are the responsible party for personal information processed through the Site. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Email sign-ups. When you subscribe to our email list or download a free resource, we collect your email address and, where you provide it, your first name. This is processed through our email platform, Kit.
• Purchases. When you buy a product through Gumroad or Whop, those platforms process your payment and share limited order information with us, typically your name, email address, country, and the product purchased. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
• Communications. If you email us, we keep the correspondence and your contact details for as long as needed to handle your query and maintain records.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device data. Like most websites, the Site and our service providers may collect IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring links, through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 9).
• Email engagement. Our email platform records opens, clicks, and unsubscribes so we can measure what is useful and stop sending to people who are not engaging.

3. How we use your information

• To deliver products you purchase and free resources you request;
• To send you the emails you signed up for, including educational content and offers for our products;
• To send service messages, such as purchase confirmations or important account notices;
• To respond to your questions and support requests;
• To understand how the Site and our emails are used, and improve them;
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and to comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal bases for processing

Where data protection law requires a legal basis (including under POPIA and, for individuals in the EEA or UK, the GDPR), we rely on: consent (email marketing sign-ups, which you can withdraw at any time); performance of a contract (delivering a product you purchased); legitimate interests (site analytics, fraud prevention, improving our content); and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).

5. Email marketing

You will only receive marketing emails from us if you opted in. Every email we send contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect promptly. Unsubscribing from marketing does not affect service emails related to a purchase you have made.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf to run the business:

• Kit, email list management and sending;
• Gumroad and Whop, checkout, payment processing, and product delivery;
• Website hosting and analytics providers, operating and measuring the Site;
• Professional advisers and authorities, where required for legal, accounting, or compliance purposes.

Each provider is bound by its own contractual and legal obligations regarding your data.

7. International transfers

We are based in South Africa, and our service providers (including Kit, Gumroad, and Whop) are based primarily in the United States and other jurisdictions. Your information may therefore be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on the safeguards implemented by our providers, such as standard contractual clauses and equivalent protections, and we only use providers that commit to appropriate levels of data protection.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy: email list data until you unsubscribe or we remove inactive contacts; purchase records for as long as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes; and correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to maintain business records. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

9. Cookies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to function, and may use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the Site. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. If we introduce advertising or tracking pixels that require consent in your jurisdiction, we will present a consent mechanism before setting them.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• request access to the personal information we hold about you;
• request correction of inaccurate information;
• request deletion of your information;
• object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing (you can also simply unsubscribe);
• withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal;
• lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you may complain to your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have equivalent rights of access, deletion, and non-discrimination under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined there.

11. Security

We take reasonable, appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, and we rely on the security practices of the established platforms we use. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

The Site and our products are intended for adults and are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated on the Site or by email where appropriate.
